The Coastguard team was asked assist the Coastguard Rescue Helicopter and the RNLI with the safe recovery of a yachtsman who had run aground on rocks below the Golden Cap.  On passage from Lyme Regis to West Bay, the experienced 61-year-old yachtsman had encountered engine problems.  In poor visibility, the wooden 24ft yacht had drifted onto the rocks.  The casualty was winched to safety after the lifeboat crew persuaded him to leave the vessel for his own safety.  The yacht was  towed back to West Bay Harbour.
