The IRT was tasked, together with the inshore lifeboat and the coastguard helicopter, to investigate a landslide below the Golden Cap.  A large plume of dust had been seen from Lyme Regis.  The lifeboat identified the possible location of the fall.  The coastguard team visited the site on foot from St Gabriels to ensure no one had been caught in the rock fall.  Two fossilers on the beach had witnessed the fall but had avoided any of the falling rocks and debris.  The large cloud of dust was caused by the height of the fall, about 75 metres and the exceptionally dry conditions on the scree below.
