2010 Incident #6 31.1.10 1402UTC #0334

The IRT was tasked to investigate two suspected unexploded ordnance devices.  A member of the public had reported seeing the devices on Monmouth beach, Lyme Regis whilst out walking.  A low spring tide had exposed the objects.  It transpired that the objects had been in situ for over 35 years and followings discussions with Navy Bomb Disposal experts, it was concluded that there was no risk to the public.  It is likely that the objects were associated with the early 20th century quarrying of the limestone from the cliffs for cement.  Any information or ideas gratefully received?
