The full coastguard mud rescue team was scrambled to help two children trapped up to their waists in the thick mud at the base of the major landslip just east of Charmouth. On arrival at the scene both children had already been recovered by their parents. The parents and the children were cold but were safe and well. No further medical attention was required.
Members of the public are advised to keep well away from the base of the cliffs. The cliffs are constantly crumbling and there is a high risk of being hit with falling rock debris. Also with the recent weather the base of the cliffs, especially the near this particular landslip, are dangerous with the large tracts of thick gooey clay and mud.
