The IRT, Initial Response Team, was tasked to prepare a helicopter landing site for the Somerset and Dorset Air Ambulance. The air ambulance had been called after a water-skier competing in the first round of the national British Waterski racing event at Lyme Regis had fallen and hit the water at 74mph. The skier was unconscious but was quickly recovered from the water and brought to shore by the event paramedics. Having regained consciousness it was decided to transfer the casualty to Dorset County Hospital by land ambulance and the helicopter was diverted to another emergency. It is understood that water skier made a full recovery.
