2010 Incident #28 28.05.10 1050UTC #1957

The Coastguard Initial Response Team, ‘IRT’ was tasked to investigate a cliff fall and landslip 500 metres east of the river at Charmouth.  A local councillor was concerned that with the May Bank Holiday weekend ahead the slip might be a hazard to visitors.  Whilst the slip was not new, it was clear that the recent rain had increased the amount of mud flowing from the cliff.  With all the warning signs on the approach to the beach still in place, it was felt that sufficient warnings were given for the scale of the slip.
