The Initial Response Team, the IRT, was tasked to rescue a young person cut off by the tide 500m to the east of Charmouth.  The teenager was reported as being waist deep in the surf of the incoming tide, the ‘wrong’ side of the landslide at Charmouth.  With the lifeboat readied to launch,  it was quickly established by the coastguard that the teenager had managed to walk over the landslide to safety and was reunited with his family.
