The Initial Response Team, the ‘IRT’, was asked to search for a person who appeared to be lost on the cliffs to the east of Lyme Regis. The person, dressed in dark clothing, kept disappearing and appearing amongst the vegetation on the cliff edge below the Spittles. He seemed wholly unfamiliar with the risks of the area i.e. quicksand and appeared unable to locate the tracks used by ‘fossilers’. The Coastguard searched the immediate area together with the obvious ‘escape’ routes. A search of the car parks and streets to the east of the town was also undertaken. Nobody was found. There were no reports of a missing, lost or overdue person and the search was stood down pending further information.
