2011 Incident #28 02.07.11 1914UTC #2825

The Initial Response Team, the IRT, was tasked to reports that a 7 metre vessel was billowing black smoke and appeared to have trouble with their inboard engine. The vessel was seen about 1.5km east of Lyme Regis near Charmouth. The vessel would drift for about ten minutes; start the engines with a huge plume of smoke. This happened three or four times. The vessel was kept under observation for 45 minutes before it headed west towards Seaton. It was suspected that the vessel did not immediately return to the safety of the harbour as they also had a small outboard engine.
