The Initial Response Team, the IRT was tasked to 40-year-old male who was in trouble swimming 1.6km off Charmouth east beach.  The RNLI inshore lifeboat was launched and recovered the casualty, returning him to the shore.  The coastguards offered advice to either swim with somebody else, use a ‘spotter’ in a kayak or swim parallel to the shoreline.  The casualty said that the similar incident had happened the day before whilst he swam some distanceoffshore at Studland.  On  that occasionthe Royal Navy had recovered him.  The casualty did not require any medical attention.
