2011 Incident #34 31.07.11 0731UTC #3505

The Initial Response Team, the IRT was tasked to reports of a person cut off by the high spring tide between Charmouth and Lyme Regis. For two and half hours either side of high water, it is not possible to safely walk between the two locations. The 54 year old make had managed to swim, fully clothed, around the flooded groynes. He was found safe and well albeit very wet at Gun Cliff Wharf, Lyme Regis. Despite receiving advice to the contrary, the gentleman decided to make a return to Charmouth via the same route with the tide still in.
