The Initial Response Team, the IRT, was tasked to assist with the rescue of a 46 year old male who was lost in impenetrable undergrowth on Black Ven, to the west of Charmouth. The coastguards managed to visually locate the ‘casualty’ from accessing various strategic high & low points around the area. Due to the difficulty in accessing his location, it was decided that the most effective way of extracting the casualty was by helicopter. He was winched to safety and returned to the ground at the golf course. The casualty did not require any further medical attention and he continued his journey along the south west coast path to Exmouth.
