The Initial Response Team, the IRT, was tasked to investigate a major landslide of some 10,000 tonnes to the east of Charmouth. A very large landslide at cascaded onto the beach below Westhay Farm. This slip now blocks the beach 2 hours before high water.
The whole Coastguard team was tasked to search for a missing fisherman lost in the harbour. The RNLI lifeboat together with the Coastguard rescue helicopter were also dispatched to assist. After an extensive search, the fisherman was located at home having left his tender vessel loose in the harbour.
The Initial Response Team, the IRT, was tasked to investigate a person in the water. A concerned member of the public had seen a fisherman go overboard and then disappear. The coastguard asked for the launch of the RNLI life boat who managed to locate the casualty, safe and well, on the other side of his vessel. He had jumped overboard to try and free his propeller which had become stuck in his net.
